This sweater is inspired by Irish fishermen's sweaters.
The traditional Irish sweater originates from the Aran Islands, off the west coast. It was created to protect fishermen from the cold and damp during the long winter months.
The twist pattern, known as "cable" in English, is the most famous Aran motif. It represents the fishermen's ropes and symbolizes luck.
